Entry Requirement in Canada

New entry requirements are now in effect in Canada. All foreigners except U.S. citizens are now expected to have either an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or a visitor visa to enter Canada.

Be prepared:

  1. Find out if you need an eTA or a visa
  2. If you need an eTA (EU citizens, for example): Apply for an eTA before you book your flight to Canada. Most applicants get approved within minutes. However, some applications can take several days to process, so don’t wait until the last minute.
  3. If you need a visitor VISA, note that a VISA application may take several weeks or months to process. Even though we will render our conference selection decisions on March 5, 2018, we recommend that you file your VISA application as soon as possible, online, through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s website. To do so, you will have to enclose, with your application, a letter of invitation from the organizers of the Alternative Accounts Conference 2018. To obtain this letter, you must:
    1. Register to the conference and pay all conference participation fees
    2. Send an email request to chair.managementcontrol@hec.ca
    3. Don’t delay!
