Every year, the CPA International Research Chair in Management Control and the International Activities and Student Mobility Services of HEC Montréal welcome a group of students enrolled in the Master’s of Management Control and Organizational Audit at IAE Paris – Sorbonne Business School. Through the immersive learning program specialized in management control and audit called Learning Expedition, 32 students had the opportunity to discover Montreal and immerse themselves in the best North American management practices, once again this year, from March 20th to 24th.

Accompanied by Professor Marion Soulerot, the group visited KPMG (meeting with Laura Le Bouyonnec and Tony Lam, respectively auditor and forensic accountant) and the Quebec CPA Order (meeting with Hélène Racine, Vice-President, Qualification and Professional Development). They also attended seminars led by professors in the Department of Accounting Studies on various topics related to management control, such as performance measurement and visualization in the era of big data with Samuel Sponem, internal control challenges and artificial intelligence with Marc-André Nadon, and evaluation and careers in big audit firms with Caroline Lambert. Anne Pezet, a professor in the management department, also proposed an architectural safari on Quebec, its history and business culture.

When asked about the interest and motivation to visit HEC Montréal annually, Marion Soulerot points out the excellent reception conditions and the quality and richness of the Learning Expedition program’s content, among other things. Inaugurated in 2017, this program has established a very favorable climate of collaboration between HEC Montréal and IAE Paris – Sorbonne Business School, which has led to the development of immersive programs designed for students enrolled in other IAE Paris Master’s programs, such as marketing.
