Olivier Saulpic,   Professor at ESCP Europe

The CPA International Research Chair in Management Control has today organized a workshop held by Olivier Saulpic, professor at ESCP Europe, on the link between teaching and research in accounting. Olivier Saulpic is head of the Management Control Department at ESCP Europe Paris campus and co-director of the Health Management Innovation Research Centre. He invited us to stimulate thought and discussion during this workshop entitled:

The Link Between Research and Teaching in Accounting: Reflections, Projects, Exchange

During this session, fruitful discussions took place between professors and PhD students of the HEC Montréal Department of Accounting Studies on how research is integrated in teaching and about the conditions for fostering this integration. Several issues have been raised, including the possibility of creating knowledge through reflective teaching, the usefulness of the existing diversity of research for teaching stances or possible ways to integrate this research into teaching.

In this regard, one can note that a special issue call for papers is launched by the Qualitative Research in Accounting & Management journal. Olivier Saulpic is guest editor of this special issue on ‘How qualitative research can infuse teaching in accounting.‘ A workshop on the same theme will be held on June 23, 2017, in Paris.
