Samuel Sponem, professor in the Department of Accounting and holder of the CPA International Research Chair in Management Control at HEC Montréal, and Mădălina Solcanu, professor at UQAM’s School of Management (ESG UQAM), are offering a critical introduction to accounting in the spring of 2023 at UPop Montréal, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to foster the development of critical thinking by offering free access to knowledge through popular education activities. Under the theme “Narrating, Rationalizing, Disciplining. A Critical Approach to Accounting”, the three proposed sessions aim to highlight the conventions on which accounting systems are based and to explore the effects of these conventions on organizations, individuals and society.

The sessions will take place on Mondays March 27, April 3 and 17, 2023 at 7:00 pm at the Zone Libre bookstore, 262 Sainte-Catherine Street E, Montreal, QC.
